MUDr.Martina Vaclová, Ph.D., MUDr.Michal Vrablík, Ph.D.

Urol. praxi, 2015; 16(2): 66-69

In case vascular erectile dysfunction is diagnosed a urologist should assess the presence of risk factors for atherosclerosis. For this purpose cooperation between urologists and internal medicine specialists/general practitioners represents a feasible and useful way of patients´ management. Importantly, the role of urologists in identification of patients with increased cardiovascular risk is crucial as erectile dysfunction might be the only symptom of early atherosclerosis and the only motivation for the patients to seek medical attention.

Routine prenatal screening of pregnant women increases the numbers of organ abnormalities found. Repeat ultrasonographic examination is the most important prenatal diagnostic method in the uropoietic system. Urinary tract dilatation is the most common ultrasonographic finding. The aetiology is varied. Postnatally, in addition to ultrasonographic evaluation to confirm or rule out the prenatal finding, other tests are performed in order to refine the diagnosis (voiding cystourethrography, static / dynamic renal scintigraphy, urethrocystoscopy, lower urinary tract urodynamic testing). For the patient, it is of major importance to determine the...

We present a case of five months old pacient who was sent to our clinic with large bilateral congenital hydrocele. The patient was operated in 6 months of age. Early operation was chosen due to extreme size of the hydroceles which caused troubles with nursening and presented risk of potential delay in pacient´s motoric development. We performed bilateral resection...

Irena Kaąparová, M.A., Ph.D.

Urol. praxi, 2015; 16(2): 88-90

This paper aims to describe the ways Roma people deal with illness and death from the perspective of social anthropology. Social science defines illness primarily as an opposite to the state of health. As such, it sees it to large extend as a subjective and relative phenomenon, seriously determined by ones native culture. To illustrate the context, the author uses Explanatory model of Arthur Kleinman (1980) and sets it against the primary data, observed during the interaction between the Roma and the majority medical staff in the current Czech Republic. Paper does not offer practical solutions. Rather, it points to differences and similarities...
