Bladder removal (radical cystectomy) is mostly performed in the case of a bladder tumour. The function of the bladder has to be substituted,
most commonly with a segment of the small intestine. During the Bricker operation (ureteroileostomy), the ureters are connected to
an excluded loop of the small intestine that is brought to the surface of the abdomen (ostomy) and a collection bag is attached to the
surrounding skin.
