Urinary tract infection in children is a common complication in childhood. With exception of early infancy UTI affects more often girls. The aim of prevention is to prevent the recurrence of UTI. Antibiotics prophylaxis is now critically discussed. In the prevention of UTI are used cranberry, probiotics and Uro-Vaxom®.

Chemotherapy in urology is an important adjunct to locoregional procedures, i.e. surgical treatment and radiotherapy, while, in particular, being an indispensable therapeutic method in metastatic or locally advanced tumours. Chemotherapy can extend life; when administered, however, it has a number of adverse effects. Novel agents used in the second-line therapy for metastatic disease – cabazitaxel in castration-resistant prostate cancer and vinflunine in urothelial carcinoma of the bladder – have become standard treatment because of their benefit.

Recently, there is accumulated knowledge that vitamin D may modify immune function, cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis and act in many other functions of body organs. Colorectal cancer is a disease of civilization. Its worldwide incidence depends on the development of the country. The current studies clearly show a significantly higher incidence of the disease in the developed countries. Diagnosis is often delayed, early stages of the disease are usually asymptomatic. Therefore, about 25 % of cases are diagnosed as an already advanced disesase. In the case of locally advanced pelvic tumors without evidence of metastatic disease is indicated by en bloc pelvic exenteration. The abruption of the ureter is rare, but serious complication of ureteroscopic stone removal. In case of serious damage of the ureter without possibility of correction, it is recommended the ileal ureter substitution. We present the ileal ureter replacement with the calix-ileal anastomosis, due to the scarred intrarenal pelvis. Pre-operative period was complicated by recurrent urinary tract infections. Postoperative period was out of the complications for long time.

A case report of a young patient with an image of a renal colic, with a finding of a huge renal tumour. A metastasis in a regional lymph node was present at time of diagnosis. The patient has undergone a radical nephrectomy and lymphadenectomy with a histological finding of a renal cell carcinoma with a Xp 11,2 translocation, pT2a N1 Mo G3. Patient has started a target therapy as a part of a clinical trial and he is without signs of metastases.

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in adults are predominantly caused by E. coli, followed by staphylococci and other bacteria. This article deals in brief the molecule of fosfomycin, which is currently recommended as drug of choice in this indication.
