Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a very frequent disease. The past decades have witnessed a dramatic development in its treatment, associated with an increased interest in this issue by both doctors and patients. The advent of PDE5 inhibitors in the late 1990swas a revolution in treatment. Since then no such fundamental progress has been made; however, evolution in treatment hascontinued up to the present day. This article summarizes the current treatment options for ED and trends in the development ofnew therapies.

Keywords: erectile dysfunction, treatment.
