Nocturnal polyuria as a cause of urological complaints in elderly patients

MUDr.Pavel Drlík
Urologické oddělení ÚVN Praha

The case report presents nocturnal polyuria combined with bulbar urethral stricture. The achievement of gradual elimination of urological

complaints in an otherwise healthy patient is described. The need to take into consideration this frequent, but often neglected

part of urological symptoms and the importance of evaluating the drinking and voiding chart are stressed. Also emphasized is the risk

of hyponatremia with the treatment with Minirin® Melt, which, however, did not occur in our case report.

Keywords: nocturnal polyuria, bulbar urethral stricture, drinking and voiding chart, desmopressin
