The article deals with the issue of antibiotic therapy in urinary tract infections during pregnancy and lactation. In the introductory survey, the safety of individual types of antibiotics both for the pregnant woman and the fetus is discused. Also mentioned are certain physiological changes in pharmacokinetics in pregnant women directly related to the dosage of antibiotic preparations. The main part focuses on the most frequent urinary tract infections in pregnancy (ABU, cystitis and pyelonephritis), their diagnostics, the most common infectious agents, appropiate therapy, potential complications and prevention. Once again, appropriate antibiotics used during lactation should be selected according to their safety for the childern. The details on the selection and dosage of recommended antibiotics are provided in the tables.
