Acute urinary tract infection are the second most common infectious disease in the general population and most common health-care
associated infections with the risk of transition to chronic disease. The vast majority of urinary tract infections associated with health care
resulting in causal connection with the introduction of the urinary catheter (especially the permanent catheters) or endoscopic surgery.
Catheterization in properly indicated cases, standardization of aseptic practice in the implementation and management of catheter,
hand hygiene and patient education are fundamental and available factors in the prevention of urinary tract infections in health care.
