MUDr. Ivo Novák Ph.D, doc. MUDr. Richard Fiala, CSc., FEBU
Urologická klinika FN a LF UK Hradec Králové

The aim of the work was to show a summary about problems with the foreskin. Generally it is presented that the suspicion of phimosis

is more frequent than the real incidence. The view of causes and consequences of phimosis and conservative or surgical approaches

of treatment are noted in the paper. It is summarised, when an early operation is necessary or when a conservative approach is recommended.

As well as the potential complications connected with the foreskin treatment. The work exposed the importance of the cosmetic

result of circumcision for the patient.

The common indication for circumcision is non-surgical. It includes religion, cultural and social reasons. Controversially, the medical

indications of circumcision are rare.

Keywords: phimosis, treatment, steroids, circumcision.
