V roce 1998 byly v České urologii publikovány Doporučené postupy (Standardy diagnostických a léčebných postupů v urologické ambulanci dospělých) (1), jako výsledek velmi úsilovné práce komise složené z urologické reprezentace a též výsledek konsenzu obce urologické. Tyto Postupy byly projednány s tehdejším vrchním ředitelem VZP, doc. Pejchlem a jejich koncepce byla VZP akceptována. VZP však z obavy, že důsledné dodržování litery Postupů povede k navýšení úhrad, nepublikovala své souhlasné stanovisko oficiálně ve Zpravodaji. Tyto postupy svou koncepcí však byly a jsou stále vodítkem při posuzování racionálnosti a oprávněnosti vykazování poskytnuté odborné péče v ambulantní urologické praxi. Jako argument byly i několikrát použity s kladným výsledkem v případě smírčích řízení s pojišťovnami...
