Striktura uretry vede u øady nemocných k vá¾ným moèovým potí¾ím, které výraznì omezují jejich ¾ivotní komfort. Poèet pacientù pøitom stále roste, zvlá¹tì vlivem jatrogenních posti¾ení souvisejících s rozvojem endourologie èi nutností sledování diurézy pomocí zavedeného katetru v jiných oborech. Proto se v posledních letech tomuto onemocnìní zaslou¾enì vìnovala pozornost urologù. Výsledkem bylo zavedení nových, èasovì nároèných plastických operací, které dávají mnoha pacientùm ¹anci na trvalé vyléèení.
